WHEN Nancy Janes boarded a plane for a hiking
trip in Romania three years ago, she had no idea the experience would change her
life. The Livermore resident wanted to learn more about a people and its
culture, but when she arrived in Bucharest she found a canine subculture that
made her gasp.

ALAMEDA -- Bigger is not always brawnier in the
dog world. Some of the bossier dogs at the city's dog park are the pixies of the
bunch. But a number of dust-ups at the public dog run on the southern side of
Washington Park has led to city approval of a spot just for small dogs.

Associated Press--MARYSVILLE, Wash. – A woman and
her husband got out of their burning house safely, but the woman went back
inside and died trying to save her dog, authorities said.

13TH:Crackdown on dog fouling and litterbugs
UK--PEOPLE dropping litter or allowing their dog
to foul pavements or public areas could face on-the-spot fines in the Maidstone
area from this month. Police Community Support Officers working in the borough
have been given special powers allowing them to hand out £50 fines for the
anti-social behaviour.

A DOG owner has called for fencing to be
put up near Portelet, Torteval. Molly the dog had to be plucked from a cliff at
Portelet Harbour by Ambulance and Rescue late on Friday afternoon. She was not
hurt, much to the delight of Harry Wild, left, aged five, and his brother, Jack,
seven. The Ambulance and Rescue Service cliff team was called to the area when a
cocker spaniel, Molly, got stuck 10ft up a steep cliff.
